Yes you read that right. EVERYTHING gets better with bacon, so it is said, this also applies to bbq sauce. Along with a little Jack Daniels whiskey, this isstraight up a superb combination. Kind of like a signature glaze around my house, and goes well with spare ribs, burger, and other bbq dishes, or what about Pulled chicken?

Some of the ingredients

What you need:

  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 0.5 dl apple cider vinegar
  • 2 dl apple juice
  • 5-6 Tbs Ketchup
  • 1 ts onion powder
  • Limejuice from 1 lime
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Brown sugar (to taste)
  • 1 red Chili
  • 2 Tbs mustard with seeds
  • 1 splash of JD Whiskey
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • 200g Crispy bacon in cubes
Chunks

Cut
Cut the onion, chili and garlic (you do not need to finely cut everything, as it is just fine with a little chunks in the sauce). Cook the bacon crisp and let it cool down. Heat a saucepan and add a little oil to saute the onions for a few minutes before adding the chili and garlic. Saute another 30 seconds before adding the whiskey. Tip: You can ligt the whiskey fumes on fire to up the taste a few notches (but watch it! it burns really well).

Perfect for pulled chicken!

Simmer
Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil, let simmer for 20-30 minutes. If the sauce becomes too thick, you can dilute it with a little water or more apple juice. If you want it thicker you can put more ketchup in or cook it a little longer. Before serving, mix in the bacon cubes. So here you go, a sweet, salty and just enough spicy BBq sauce. Enjoy!
